Caitlin H. Mayton is a doctoral student at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work. Over the past five years, Mayton has worked with solid organ transplant patients at the University of North Carolina Hospital. While at UNC, she also served as the resiliency and burn- out officer of the transplant department, providing interventions to encourage self-care and prevent medical errors caused by compassion fatigue. Being a certified clinical transplant social worker has provided opportunities for Mayton to work with transplant practitioners elsewhere in the United States. Mayton’s research interests focus on health disparities in racial/ethnic minority communities, particularly in North Carolina, issues surrounding access to healthcare, healthcare inequality, and psychosocial issues of solid organ transplantation. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys spending time with her two pups, family and friends.
