Abby, a 2021 alum of VCU's advanced standing Master of Social Work Program, is thrilled to be coming back to the school as a field program coordinator. Abby has experience as a student and a field instructor, and is excited to experience the behind-the-scenes of field placement work in her new role in the Office of Field Education.
Prior to returning to VCU, Abby worked in child welfare at the Henrico County (2021-2025) and Nelson County (2021) Departments of Social Services. Abby is a graduate of the Child Welfare Stipend Program and had the opportunity to work closely with interns in her previous role at Henrico County. Her work with clients has been rewarding, but she also has a unique understanding of the challenges students could face when making the transition between classroom and field work. Abby is passionate about helping the School of Social Work team develop the workforce.
Outside of her professional work, Abby enjoys traveling and has a goal of visiting all 50 states and all seven continents. (With 26 states and three continents already visited, she's about halfway there!) She also loves to read, write creatively and spend time with friends, family and her Yorkiepoo, Teddy.
