Caitlin H. Mayton is a doctoral student at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work. Previously, Mayton worked with solid organ transplant patients at the University of North Carolina Hospital. While at UNC, she also served as the resiliency and burnout officer of the transplant department, providing interventions to encourage self-care and prevent medical errors caused by compassion fatigue. Being a certified clinical transplant social worker has provided opportunities for Mayton to work with transplant practitioners elsewhere in the United States.
Mayton’s research interests focus on health disparities in racial/ethnic minority communities, particularly in North Carolina, issues surrounding access to health care, health care inequality and psychosocial issues of solid organ transplantation. In her free time, Mayton enjoys spending time with her two pups, family and friends.
