Dabney McDonald, M.S.W., LMHP-S, is a proud alumna of Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned her Master of Social Work through the advanced standing track. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Norfolk State University – (Behold!) – and is actively working toward her LCSW.
During the day, Dabney serves as an academic advisor, supporting social work students as they navigate their educational paths and prepare for meaningful careers. By night, she works as a crisis clinician, providing mental health support to individuals experiencing emergencies, often in response to law enforcement. While her concentration is in clinical social work, she has a deep love for macro practice and the broader systems that shape our communities.
Originally from Northern Virginia, Dabney has also lived in Virginia Beach and now calls Richmond home. When she’s not working, she enjoys road trips, traveling internationally and spending quality time at the beach with her family.
Dabney is passionate about empowering others and committed to making a meaningful impact – both in individual lives and across communities.
