Deborah Darlington is a dedicated M.S.W. student success advisor at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where she supports Master of Social Work students in navigating their academic journey and achieving their personal and professional goals. A proud VCU M.S.W. alumna, Deborah brings a blend of empathy, strong communication skills and a problem-solving approach when working with students.

Before joining the VCU Office of Student Success, Deborah worked with the Children’s Home Society as a social worker, performing home visits, conducting family check-ins and assisting foster youth transitioning into independent living. Her professional background also includes experience in school social work, where she completed the Project PIRR program and earned her School Social Work Certification while on her VCU academic journey.

Deborah is passionate about helping others discover their purpose and pathway – whether in academics or in life. She thrives on supporting individuals as they uncover what drives them and guiding them toward meaningful goals.

Outside of her professional work, Deborah enjoys spending time with her family and traveling across the country, finding inspiration and balance in new experiences and shared moments.
