School of Social Work

Erin Trimmer, M.S.W., is a passionate macro social worker committed to advising through a student-focused empowerment lens. As a double alumna of Virginia Commonwealth University, Erin navigated the university experience as a non-traditional student and is committed to ensuring that every student has the support and resources they need to succeed in the School of Social Work. She is a current member of the Macro Fellows, a cohort of alumni and faculty dedicated to providing strategic vision for advancing macro practice at VCU.

Before joining the Office of Student Success, Erin was an advocate for housing justice in Richmond, working with both local and state-level policy. She worked as a legislative aide to Delegate Rae Cousins during the 2026 Virginia General Assembly legislative session and would love to see more social workers in legislative spaces.

Erin lives in Chesterfield with her partner, their child and their very spoiled dog. A longtime Richmond-area resident, she loves going to soccer games at City Stadium and is on a quest to find the best pastry in Richmond.
