Jacyra de Araujo is a postdoctoral fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University, specializing in psychiatry and mental health research. Originally from Brazil, she earned her medical degree from the University of Brasília.
Before joining VCU, Dr. de Araujo was a research fellow at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation in Salvador, Brazil, where she published works on the relationship between mental illness and socioeconomic factors among Brazilian youth using linked electronic health records and other public registries. Dr. Araujo is funded by NIAAA on a T32 grant to expand her work on the relation of alcohol use and suicide thoughts and behaviors.
