Pronouns: She/her
Kyleigh's passion for social work education stems directly from her experiences in multiple roles of the field education process, and her goal as a program field coordinator is to help create a deeply enriching field experience for social work students. As an undergraduate at Virginia Tech, she studied human development and Spanish, gaining insight into the world of human services via field placements at a family relationships research program and the university women's center.
She gained a specific interest in social work after learning about its focus on the impact of systems, resources and environment on human wellbeing, and upon graduation entered VCU's M.S.W. Program. Through internships at a mobile health clinic and a statewide LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, she gained not only social work skills and a passion for macro work, but also a wealth of connections with advocacy and direct service organizations across the state of Virginia.
Before joining the Office of Field Education at the VCU SSW, Kyleigh continued her work at her former field site, Equality Virginia, most recently serving as director of advocacy and as a field instructor for social work interns.
In her personal time, Kyleigh is an avid gardener, novice sewist and especially passionate about cooking and mutual aid. She lives in Richmond with her husband and senior cat, Suzie.
