Omobolaji David-Ojumu, Ed.D., is a dedicated higher education professional with a commitment to fostering student success, academic development and digital literacy. In her role, she currently serves Master of Social Work students and is passionate about empowering them to reach their goals by combining personalized guidance, innovation and genuine care to help them thrive both academically and personally. Her approach to advising centers on reflection, self-directed learning and helping students build confidence and take ownership of their educational journey.

Before joining Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Omobolaji served in advising and instructional roles at Sam Houston State University and Prairie View A&M University in Texas, where she worked closely with diverse student populations to promote persistence and engagement. Her experience across multiple institutions has strengthened her commitment to inclusive advising practices and her understanding of how different academic environments shape the student experience. She also brings a strong communication background from her previous work as an editor and communication specialist. These experiences strengthened her ability to connect, mentor and communicate effectively – skills she now integrates into her advising practice.

Omobolaji holds a doctorate in education with a research focus on digital literacy, highlighting collaboration, innovation and critical thinking as essential learning outcomes. She also earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees in English.

Outside of work, she finds joy in music, spending quality time with family, exploring new places and sharpening her technical skills along the way.
