Samuel Smith is a student success advisor with a commitment to student advocacy, academic rigor, and clear and empathetic communication. Professionally, Samuel most recently served as a legal writer for an immigration law firm, in which capacity he helped to guide STEM visa candidates through the difficulties involved in the immigration process. Prior to this role, Samuel worked as a high school English teacher for the New York City Department of Education, teaching in both classroom settings and as a part of New York’s Home Instruction School. These teaching roles provided Samuel with extensive experience in supporting students who are experiencing academic and emotional challenges standing in the way of their personal goals.

Samuel holds degrees in both English literature and philosophy from the City University of New York, further illustrating his interest in writing and composition.

Outside of work, Samuel likes to spend his time playing guitar and bass, hiking and watching horror films.
