Sooyeon Jang’s research interests include socioeconomic mobility, poverty and health inequality, particularly as they affect low-income families and children. Her work is grounded in quantitative and interdisciplinary approaches and is oriented toward informing social policy and welfare systems.
She received her Master of Social Welfare from Yonsei University, where her training emphasized social welfare administration and empirical research. Her work seeks to connect academic inquiry with policy-relevant questions surrounding inequality and social protection.
After completing her graduate studies, she worked as a researcher at a Korean local government–affiliated research institute, where she contributed to applied research projects supporting local social welfare planning and policy development. This experience strengthened her interest in translating empirical research into practical policy insights.
