Talaya Matthews, M.S.W., QMHP-T, is a compassionate professional with a master’s degree in clinical social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. With over nine years of experience serving underprivileged populations, she brings a deep commitment to trauma recovery, mental health services and social justice in urban communities.
Talaya has a strong background in working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, individuals experiencing mental health crises, BIPOC and low-income populations. Her professional roles equipped her to support individuals facing houselessness, abuse and systemic barriers while connecting them to vital resources. These experiences have deepened her commitment to empowering students through advising as they navigate their own educational pathways and professional development.
In her free time, Talaya enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors and being with friends and family.
Known for her empathy, mentorship skills and dedication to creating inclusive environments, Talaya continues to uphold the NASW Code of Ethics through her work advising the future of social work.
