Yakaira Alexander-Ramos, M.A., is the senior program field coordinator for the Office of Field Education at the VCU School of Social Work. Since 2021, Yakaira has made invaluable contributions to the VCU School of Social Work field placement and site development initiatives. In her new role as senior program field coordinator, she will leverage her prior experiences to further enhance the field placement experience for both students and community partners.

Prior to joining VCU, Yakaira was instrumental in designing evidence-based, student-centered programming at the University of Michigan and the University of Cincinnati through the lens of race and ethnicity. Her contributions were recognized with the University of Michigan's Circle Award and the University of Cincinnati's Advisor of the Year Award.

Beyond her work in higher education, Yakaira is an avid traveler and food enthusiast with a deep love for exploring new destinations, cuisines and languages with her husband and children.
