Erica is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Virginia. She has over 10 years of experience in medical social work. She has served as a clinical social worker in various health care practice settings. Her work as a clinical social worker in outpatient settings with pediatric patients has expanded her interests in social drivers of health, specifically for children, families and birthing persons in postpartum recovery.

As a professor and clinician, Erica is passionate about merging education with experience. She commits to bringing innovative learning opportunities that captivate students' interests and passions. Her work as a previous field instructor strengthened her dedication to modeling meaningful and empathetic practice standards that are rooted in evidence-based practice; while also aligning with the standards of the social work profession. Erica ensures that her students receive a global perspective that highlights equitability, inefficiencies, justices and injustices; and showcases the need for well-rounded and passionate practitioners to engage with our most vulnerable populations.

Erica earned both her Bachelor of Science in psychology and Master of Social Work degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a proud Ram and is humbled by the opportunity to teach at her alma mater.
