Zoljargalan Gantumur is a first-year Ph.D. student at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work. She was born and raised in Mongolia. She earned her M.S.W. degree from SUNY, Albany in 2013 with the Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship. While studying in the M.S.W. program, she was also involved in the Internships in Aging project at the School of Social Welfare, SUNY, Albany.

Her M.S.W. program influenced her to pursue a career in the academic field. In 2015, she started working as a full-time lecturer at the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences, where she taught macro social work courses to undergraduate students. For the last nine years, she has been involved in various research and collaborative projects in Mongolia related to the health and well-being of older adults, youth violence, social work education and practice in health care, and capacity building of social workers in Mongolia.

Zoljargalan likes traveling and reading, and she loves to spend time together with her 9-year-old daughter.
